Great Paintings Days

How do Great Paintings days work?

The whole day is focused on just one painting. Filbert will talk about the painting in great detail, motivating the children to imagine they were an artist who was about to produce his own version of the painting. Discussion and drawing workshops follow until the children have sketches, ideas and plans for their own painting.

After Filbert has demonstrated painting, colour mixing and textural techniques the children produce their own paintings. In a short plenary session at the end of the day, children talk about their own paintings, motivations and ideas. For a detailed outline see below.

Session 3: (40 min's) Discussion with the children - using the information, ideas etc., from the painting and the drawing workshop, children will create their own scenarios, ideas and motivations before producing a series of sketches and ideas.
